3 Brothers | Broadway, VA Family Photographer

I had the pleasure of hanging out with my 3 handsome nephews for a fun-filled photo shoot just before the oldest goes off to college next week.   They live in a beautiful home in the country so we had no problem finding a few places to take pictures.  These boys are  so much fun to be around and will definitely keep you laughing.  Thanks, Dane, Spencer and Connor for keeping me so entertained during your photo shoot!

Wonderful photos Gayle!!!! I have heard you are great behind the camera, but this time I think you had FANTASTIC subjects. I love those Hatcher boys!!!

Marilea & Jesse Married | Hobson House B&B

When I started my photography business last year I never thought I’d be interested in photographing weddings, but after attending a few wedding workshops to see what it was all about, I instantly fell in love!  So when Marilea called and asked me to photograph her wedding, I was just so ready to get started.   What a ton of emotions I experienced that day…excitement, nervousness, happiness,  love, satisfaction and exhaustion!   And I couldn’t have done it without my wonderful son, Clark, as my second shooter and assistant.  Thank you, Clark!

I so enjoyed meeting this sweet couple…Marilea and Jesse.  What a stunning bride Marilea made and what a beautiful family she has.  Marilea and Jesse chose to be married at a quaint little B&B called the Hobson House,  which is located in Churchville, Virginia.  Being a part of their celebration with family and friends was such a great way to put my new skills as a wedding photographer to the test.   And what a lovely outdoor wedding they had!   Thank you Marilea and Jesse for allowing me to photograph your lovely outdoor Virginia wedding!

Much Love,

Beautiful Avery | 8 Days | Northern VA Newborn Photographer

Little Avery  came to visit me when she was 8 days old.  What a little sweetheart she is!  We had such a good time together, and she let me know early on that  she was in charge of her sleeping positions and not me!  Ha.  What a little wiggle worm she was.  Congratulations to Candee and Dan on your adorable little bundle of joy!

Justin & Mary Lighting Workshop | Richmond, VA

Wow!  Did I ever learn a lot at the lighting workshop that I attended in Richmond, VA given by the awesome photographers Justin & Mary Marantz!  I had been following their blog and absolutely fell in love with their style.  Their work is so classy and beautiful and when I saw that they were going to be giving a workshop in Richmond on lighting, I signed up immediately!  I love natural light photography (maybe because it is just easier than figuring out how to use the on camera and off camera flashes) but now I am psyched about flash photography.  We learned so much information in such a short time; I just hope I can remember it all.  Thank you Justin & Mary for all of your wonderful information on lighting!  You guys rock!

Justin is explaining to me how to use the wireless off camera flashes.

Of course it helps when we have beautiful models to photograph.

Family Vacation | Bahamas | Paradise Island

We just got home from a wonderful family vacation in the Bahamas!  The weather was awesome and the food was delicious.   A few pictures from our trip.

These yachts were docked at Paradise Island.   Wow, are they nice or what?  I’m sticking with my horse trailer.  🙂
Brooke & Lindsay

I loved capturing this beautiful night sky.

Brooke & Clark | Boathouse Engagement Party

What a great time Douglas and I had at our son, Clark, and his fiancé, Brooke’s engagement party!  Brooke’s parents hosted the party in Richmond, VA at a lovely restaurant called The Boathouse.  They decided on a Hawaiian theme since Clark proposed to Brooke in Hawaii while they were on a college trip.  We enjoyed meeting more of Brooke’s friends and family from out of town and had a lovely day.  Thank you to Jeff and Darlene for a lovely engagement party for Clark and Brooke!

Gayle – I am such a lousy Facebooker! I just went to see what was new with you guys and found the post about your blog/Clark’s engagement. Wow. Wow – the photography and wow, you’re going to have a daughter in law! So ironic that I checked TODAY, the day after the big party. So beautiful. Congrats to everyone. Miss talking to you and seeing you and riding with you. Take care! – MC

Gayle…please give my congratulations to Clark! He has grown up to be one handsome young man! He will always be one of my favorite students. It’s hard for me to imagine that he’s organized enough to remember to propose. 🙂
