A Lovely Bridal Shower | Richmond, VA

I attended a lovely bridal shower for my future daughter-in-law, Brooke,  at the Walton Park Clubhouse in Richmond yesterday.   It just so happened to be my birthday, so it was an extra special day for me.   A day full of good friends, delicious food, great weather, and even a little time to do some shopping at the Short Pump Mall!   Brooke, I am so excited that you will be joining our family in June!

Stocking Trout | Criders, Virginia

What a fun weekend Douglas and I had camping and relaxing at our mountain property in Criders, VA this past weekend!  Douglas and Clark decided to stock our small pond with 75 trout this spring and this was the weekend the fish were to arrive!   And, of course, we had a lot of the Driver clan there to help with the big day.  Ha.  I don’t get quite as exited about trout as my husband and my son and all of the other Driver guys do, but as long as I have my horse with me, I’m good!  Coosa and I went on a nice trail ride Saturday morning through the mountains that were still partially snow covered and absolutely beautiful…and then it was time for the trout to arrive!   I unsaddled my horse and put him back in his corral and waited along with everyone else.  I have never seen anyone get so excited about fish!  My son Clark is an avid fisherman and would fish day and night if he could.  When the trout finally arrived, we decided that our pond was in a location that was too difficult for the truck to go, so we decided to transfer the trout from the truck they arrived on into 2 coolers that were strapped on 4 wheelers.   We used a big net to scoop them from the large holding tank on the back of the truck and dump them into the coolers.  It took about 3 trips on the 4 wheelers to get all the trout to the pond safely.  My little nieces, Jordan and Taylor, enjoyed the day 4 wheeling, feeding the fish, and hanging out by the campfire.  They both said they can’t wait to come again and maybe next time bring their fishing poles.   A wonderful weekend for all!

So, so sorry I wasn’t there!!!!!!

March Snow | Broadway, Virginia

Boy, the weather has been kind of crazy lately!  We had a couple of 70 degree days in January and now a big snowstorm with 12 inches (or so) of  snow in March!   The ground was completely covered this morning when we got up and it continued to snow most of the day.  It was just lovely!

By the end of the afternoon, it was already starting to melt.  Yay!

Horse Camping at Burns Knob

My hubby and I had a great time horse camping with our horses this past weekend at our mountain land in Criders, Virginia.  For a weekend in February, the weather was awesome as the temps got up to 50 degrees during the day!  We built a little electric pen for the horses to stay in which is very easy to build and works great.  (Usually)   This particular weekend, a helicopter flew right overhead for about an hour trimming the trees along the power line!  I had never seen anything like it and it was very interesting to watch, but our horses got spooked with the helicopter flying so close.  Our chestnut mare, Cali, actually ran thru the electric fence and they both took off running down thru the woods.  Oh dear.  I was a little afraid they might go out to the main road and get hurt or cause an accident, but thank goodness they calmed down and I was able to lead them back to camp before they got too far away.   Whew,  seems like there is always some type of excitement when camping with horses!   We eventually had an awesome trail ride all over the trails on our property.   🙂

This is the helicopter that was trimming the trees.  If you look real close, you can see the blade hanging below the helicopter.

Family Shoot with 5 Month Old Twins

This was a fun family photo shoot with 2 of my friends from high school and their sweet family who had come to the Valley for a relaxing weekend.   Meet Pam and  Ed, their daughter Katie and her husband Tanner and their beautiful 5 month old twins Eddie and Fiona (love those names!)  We were planning for an outside shoot if the weather cooperated, but it was quite frigid this early Saturday morning in Virginia so we decided it would be best to stay inside by the fire.   I certainly didn’t mind using the inside of their lovely Virginia home as the backdrop for their family pictures!  Thanks, Pam & Ed, for an enjoyable morning photo shoot with your sweet family.  Hope to see you guys again soon!
